about the teacher
John Shapiro teaches private and group lessons for guitar and voice from his studio
located in the West Highlands neighborhood (close to 32nd and Lowell) in
Denver, Colorado. John has been studying, recording, playing, writing, and performing music
for over 17 years and holds a BA in Music from Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado, which included
transfer credits from his year-long studies at both CU College of Music in Boulder and Berklee College of Music in Boston.
John primarily plays acoustic guitar and sings, but he is also highly proficient at piano and bass, and has dabbled in various
world music genres including studying tablas (Indian classical drums) in Nepal and Balinese gamelan in Bali. John has extensively performed
perform his music around, solo and in bands, around the Denver metro area for years
and has regularly recorded original material in his recording studio.
